Recently returned home from the Toffie Festival in Cape Town & what a show it was! So many creative together in one building to create a whole new community in which to function. Was quite inspired by a lot of the poeple I met there. For those of you who aren't familiar with this festival, it's a three day conference festival & conference that takes place in the Cape Town City Hall, and focuses on contemporary popular culture, design, music, magazine publishing, art & everything else that relates to everyday pop culture.
Team UK showed some works of The Rumpus Room, an English advertising agency. They used an interesting angle in most of their projects to communicate with their target audience. One of the things they showed during their conference was a video made for xbox. They recorded a whole lot of people singing Lilly Allen's The Fear. All of these people were placed in front of different coloured backgrounds. These backgrounds are then used to create a new picture of Lilly Allen performing this song. Some of the creatives that joined in the festival included Bow Peep, that uses buttons to create hairbands, necklaces and rings { http://www.shopbowpeep.co.za/ }
and minikiki that uses shoes as a platform for painting { http://www.minikiki.com/ }.
